This week we are using Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) to create 8 HSTs in one go. It's very similar to the 8 at a time method except you are sewing along lines printed on the paper. Once sewn you trim along the red lines and then peel away the paper. And the best bit, there is no trimming needed, the HSTs are the perfect size!!
TIP - Reduce your stitch length to 1.8 so the paper is easy to peel away. For these templates you sew on the GREEN lines, cut on the RED lines |
Diamond in Square
The Diamond in square block is a nice easy block to make. Using a large square and four small squares you create a diamond shape in the middle of the square . Remember to sew along the drawn diagonal line of each small square. I like to sew the two opposite corners before trimming, then I sew the remaining two corners.
TIP - If you then sew an extra seam ½" away (outside) from the drawn line you will have a HSTS |
Remember to post your photos using the #signalquiltalong and tag me @paulasteel.quilts and Lisa @modernquiltclub so we can share in your achievements and spread the encouragement.
I hope you've enjoyed the FPP HSTs, they are great for quick piecing. Remember to check back next week for week 7 and the last blocks. |
