When I wrote my book 'Modern Rainbow Patchwork Quilts' I really wanted to be able to encourage new quilters and spread my love of (and addiction to) quilting. One of the simplest quilt projects in the book is the Rainbow Picnic quilt, so I thought we could do a sew along for this quilt. However, there was a twist, we made a baby quilt version, so a little smaller than the original. I have, previously made this quilt as a smaller baby quilt and it was really well received as a gift, it's also the perfect size for trying some new skills.
The Quilt The design is based around a nine patch design, but with a cheat, i do like to make life easier! The original picnic quilt in the book is 51" square, we will be making a sweet baby version which is 36" square. How will this work? This started as a Sew Along, in June 2020 and was broken down into 4 distinct weeks. The instructions and helpful guides are below for all four weeks, so if you missed out and want to make one all the info is below. Each of the four weeks has instructions, helpful guides and sometimes a video to help you out with some of the basics.
